Default No man, I mean the car is really hot!

Last night my girlfriend and I decided to go for a cruise through some not so congested areas (almost impossible in Illinois).Well, for about a 1\2 hour I was getting on it pretty hard. Then we stopped for about 2 minutes in a parking lot and I just happened to look down at my temp. gauge. I have only seen it go to just passed center on the guage when I assumed it was at it's hottest. But while sitting there it reached almost two notches passed center but then cooled back down when I started driving again. Is this normal? Did I push the turbo to hard? Any input would be greatly appreciated.P.S. I checked my oil right after that and it was fine.

Default Pretty normal (more)

When you stop after running hard, long etc. and circulation, hence cooling through the radiator, ceases, the thermostat will reflect a higher reading. As you saw, when you start up again you get a more normal operating range reading. Everything is fine.

Default Different experience. I live in Houston (hot) and have never seen that (more)

...and I drive it hard. I have always been amazed how the gauge stayed pegged in the middle! If mine started doing that, I'd look into it.
