Normal engine bay noise for a 225?
I have a TT225Q coupe.
It has a sound that starts up from around 2.5k and is fairly constant, kind of like a vacuum cleaner.
I havn't noticed any other turbo wind (I have had other turbo cars in the past).
Does this sound normal? I haven't driven another TT to compare.
BTW. I have replaced the DV with a forge 006. And checked the boost which seemed a bit low to me at around .8bar but is probably correct for a non-chipped TT.

Re: It's normal to hear *a* whine between 2500 and 3500 or so.
Mmmm, I don't really here a whine at all. It's more like rushing air.
I guess i'm a bit worried that it may be an air leak.
Any other description of a normal sounding TT?

A bit more info. please help.
When I got the car (one month ago) it had a bad throttle lift-off jerk and also the air sound. I suspected the old DV so I replaced it with the forge 006.
The throttle lift-off jerk is much better now, but the rushing air noise is still very prominent from the cabin. It's hard to explain exactlly how it sounds, perhaps a vacum cleaner or Darth Vader breathing or even like the sound of turning on the air conditioner in some cars.
The sound continues from 2.5k all the way up to red line.
I checked the boost level and it is almost constant at around .8bar (12psi).
I got a bit worried when I found this comment from another user in an old post:-
1) My turbo always has a pleasant whirr that's audible with the windows down, on full boost or not.
2) I did experience prolonged lag and a sound of leaking air (more of a hiss than whirr) after my DV capsized because it took a hose out with it (?). This was verified by my Audi dealer and replacement of DV and hose brought me back to monster performance levels.
Could I also have a busted host or is this kind of sound just normal?
