Default NY speeding ticket questions

So I got nailed on 684 the other night, heading home to Boston. I get
handed the most bizarre speeding ticket I've ever seen - no dollar signs
anywhere.

1. Anyone know what the rate schedule is for speeding in NY?

2. Should I plead not guilty and string along the trial date (which I
doubt I'd ever attend)?

3. What happens if I just ignore an out of state ticket?

Yeah, yeah, I know I need a radar detector, but telling me that won't help
me much now...

Thanks,

Default Some answers....

In New York you mail in the ticket and the town or county in which you got pulled over determins the fine. NOT the state. You didn't mention what speed you were going but I got nailed doing 91 in a 65 and it was about $150. No points from NY were transfered to my CT license.

I wouldn't pick not guilty unless you plan on going from Boston back to NY to fight the ticket.

If you ignore the ticket and get pulled over again in NY you will be in DEEP ****. Not sure what would happen but I imagine they could put a warrent out for your arrest and you could see the road from the back of a cop car seat.

Hope this helps...

Default A friend of mine had a warrant for his arrest for not paying a ticket once

Pretty funny story actually. He had lived in the town/area most of his post-high school life. One day he got a call from one of his friends in the police department. They told him that they needed to arrest him for an outstanding speeding ticket. It was an honest mistake apparently, but somehow it had been 5 years since the ticket was written up! So, he scheduled a convenient time for getting arrested, drove down to the police station, his friend put the handcuffs on him outside the building, placed him in a cell, pulled out a deck of cards, and the played poker all night long.

True story...

I imagine he saw the humor in it... until he realized he now has an arrest record!
