Has bothered me since the day I got the car as it had pits and scratches.

Took a palm orbital sander and hit it with 80, 150, 240, 400, 600, 1000, and 2000 grit sandpaper. Then, polished it up with water and steel wool. 2nd to last, took a headlight buffing wheel and applied some Autosol metal polish to the ring and polished it out. Finally, some good ole P21S (though I'm not sure which is more aggressive of the two) seemed to give it the best shine possible.

A buffing wheel would make it easier (may take it to the auto hobby shop if they have one), but not bad for a few hours work.

that was probably clear-anodized, so now it will oxidize w/o some coating.

Default Hmm, thought about that. I've got some automotive clear coat and could spray it, but P21S does

a good job protecting my other metal from corrosion, so am anticipating the same here. If not, will simply steel wool it again and spray it.

Or, I saw some pics on Steve's site. May send it and have it "rough blacked."

Default BTW, if anyone has any 180 quattro parts they no longer need/want, I'm probably interested.

Specifically, I am looking for a "better" exhaust, haldex oil (have everything else), tires, wheels, or whatever else is lying in your work space/garage collecting dust.

Pls shoot me an e-mail.

Looks nice. You probably will have to hit it with the P21s every once in a while.
