The spring is moving on it's seat! Anyone else with Bilstein Sport/HR Sport have this problem? Is the sport shock too short? Why wouldn't the spring be seating properly? When raised, you can wiggle the springs! Is this something I should worry about?

Possible faulty install Gary.......>>>
Could be the top bearing was not seated correctly on the shock shaft? When this happens the install usually trashes the bearing. Are the top cups (in the engine compartment, 1/2 inch or so abouve the body? Symetrical left to right? Is the spring end (bottom) aligned with the notch in the shock body? With all the ongoing problems reported with H&R's I don't know.....I suspect an install problem though....

I have the same set up and a similar knocking noise on the passenger front when I hit a bump ...
I had the car jacked up and the wheel off not too long ago and could physically move the spring, at the top, back and forth an 1/8 inch or so.
Thursday is my TT-East prep day and I plan to try to rotate the spring to make sure it is properly set. (fingers crossed that it works).
I'll let you know at in Asheville.

EH?...what you incinerating there?....
Gary...worst case...you might need to replace strut bearings (reason for that Is theres no real way to torque to factory spec without VAG tools)...but as for install everything was okie dokey...

Ok...I retract that statement (if you were involved Marcus!).....>>
I think it's just that H&R springs for the TT generally suck what with all the problems, coilbinding (yeah, I know, that's their design), noise and now this.......

But in all honesty....I can't think of anything that could be giving issue
Except the strut bearing....everything was torqued to spec but those 2 nuts on the strut...
Now if the spring is moving....would it be too outrageous to suggest clamping it to the plate on the strut in some fashion?....a small clamp ti e self drilling screw holding it down?
I know its a ***** ache..but could work in the interim..

The shaft is shouldered........I think....>>
sometimes the bearing doesn't get seated all the way down on the shoulder. That's what takes out the bearings. (this has happened to a few here with bad installs) I can understand a little spring looseness at full jounce, but not under load with the car's weight on them.
Plus, the spring should not click moving the car forward or back...Nothing but vertical movement of the strut afterall.....don''t know. Could be a faulty diagnosis...(sounds like a motor mount to me)
