Default Oil changing idea (long post)

Well, I am new to the TT scene, just bought a 225 model a little over a month ago. So, I will be asking many newbee questions in the coming months. I just did my first oil change, with the help of this site. It was not that bad, however I have all the tools one could ever need. Total time was 45 min, and I was inspecting the underside of the car while I went. Anyway, I think if you punch two small holes in the bottom of the filter to drain the contents before removing the filter, this would help keep the mess down. I had vehicle with remote filters before, and this was required to change filters. I will try this on my next oil change, I already rigged up a funnel, hose and water bottle to catch the oil draining from the filter. I hope it works. Thanks again for the oil changing tips.

Default that's what I do

a well placed hole and you almost don't need a funnel.
