it just seems moot as the car would need to be warm before you did any power logs, and really cold start is about running "right" to keep emissions in check as the car is running rich anyway.
I looked up the installation instructions and there is nothing that says there is anything bad that will happen if you do not have it hooked up the way you guys noted....
is this just about having the data live all the time ???!?!? TIA fir satisfying my curiosity! ;-)<ul><li><a href="http://www.zeitronix.com/installation/ZT2instructions.pdf">http://www.zeitronix.com/installation/ZT2instructions.pdf</a</li></ul>

even during the car warm up period. In my case it's overkill I really don't care what the car is doing during the first 15 - 20 secs.

unless you are tuning for the track, and even then it is in question...
In reading the installation instructions, they talk about the warm-up period.....but there is nothing about the 12volt source....
Oh well...just was curious

and fuel pump to draw electricity during cranking. the notion: to dedicate the battery's reserves to engine start up. To accomplish this an "unloader" function is added to Switched 12. Most lights, motor driven accessories like power windows, entertainment systems etc. are powered by "unloaded" switched 12. Unloaded means "momentarily shut off during cranking"
Monitor the switched 12 at terminal 75x and you find:
ignition off, no power
ignition on, 12v present
cranking, no power
engine started, power present
on, off, back on... each time you cold OR warm start......
Ox sensors have to be hot before their output is linear and reliable
since the ox sensor is the primary data source, and running time is required to get it hot... processing and logging are disabled for several seconds at start up to insure data integrity
Zeitronix uses it's 12v input to initiate it's start sequence, there is no on-off switch
connect their system to 75x and it gets "on, off, on" and as a result it's power-on sequence is started, stopped, and started again in close succession
as long as you don't use functions like logging until your engine is fully warmed up, connecting to unloaded switched 12 <i>should</i> be inconsequential
If you use the narrow band simulator function, quick and clean turn-on IS important, hence my use of the coil pac's power. The pac's 12v comes on and <i>stays</i> on
it's switched, but not "unloaded"
