An "Additional" TT, correct? (No DSG experience here, sorry)

Default My opinion after spending a week in one and at TTwest.....

I hate automatics. I'd buy a DSG. Should I go on? ;-)

Seriously, I didn't like it at first, when I first drove it. However, after having the opportunity to use it as a daily driver and then beat the living crap out of it on TTwest drives, I was thoroughly impressed. I also love the VR engine as well. You do feel the weight in the nose compared to the 225 - but it really isn't that bad.

I wouldn't think twice about owning DSG - and I've never owned anything but a manual transmission car.

Default I like it...

... but I have it in MANUAL mode almost all the time, and I used to drive stick before this car. Auto mode works well but it's not perfect, it tends to go into 6th way to soon (or at too low of speed / under 40MPH) if you are not on the gas. Conversly, the S mode is very aggressively programed, too much so for most "around town" driving.

I think the DSG prefers to be driven more aggresively vs. a normal automatic. The shifts are very fast and smooth, and give a continuous acceleration feel that I like alot. It is fun to hit manual shifts just right with both hands on the wheel, and watch the rpm needle drop down and hold so fast. The engine really sings at high RPM. I don't find a lack of clutch control to be an issue in most driving situations, although the timing of downshifts can be tricky in lower-speed situations.

I do occasionally miss the raw interactive satisfaction of driving a stick shift, but I commute daily in L.A., and the tranny was the main reason why I bought a TT in the first place.

A 7th gear would be nice.

Default Thanks Joe, may need to sell my 1.8 and get the 3.2 so that we both can drive it here

in CO. (my wife will just use it to get around town)

Happy to hear your comments, thanks.

Default Well I'm sure you could make another one look just as good

Hate to see a beauty like that go. Now if you're taking "dibs" on that Wilson intake/TB keep me in mind.
