Default Model below (Sony) is nice but I would look for a non-Sony...

Sony's proprietary memory (Memory Stick)is substandard to any of the other memory systems and will always be more money than the 'open systems' like Lexar and Sandisk.

I know you have a budget, but look at the Nikon Coolpix 775. GREAT camera and loads of features.

Whether or not you get the Nikon, look for a memory system other than the proprietary Sony system.

Default Well, Memory Stick is great...if you go ALL Sony

Sony camera
Sony Clie (which are truly slick)
Sony Camcorder
Sony laptop
Sony printer

However, price per MB of both Memory Stick and MMC is about twice that of CF or SM. And, nobody besides Sony uses Memory Stick, although Lexar is also making it. OTOH, for a compact camera, 128M should provide plenty of pictures.

I love my Canon Elph, and I've seen prices came down under $400 for them.

Some of the latest Canon and Epson printers can handle all the formats (with adapters), since they use PCMCIA slots.

Default Casio 2.1mp qv-2900

http://www.casio.com/

QV-2900 they say it sells for $400, but wallmart has them stocked (behind the counter not on display) so you go to ask for it for- $199.

Got my girlfriend one for christmas. It was the most amazing deal I ever heard of for a 2.1 mega pixel camera. Quality and options are excelent.
