I don't know why, but this melancholy Fall morning brings to mind good ol' Janis Joplin... I mean really, these new-fangled "musicians" suck, for the love of gawd, I mean who dies in a pool of their own sick, anymore... NO ONE!!! Now, that was a fabulous way to go, and what passion in all things... her Porsche, as seen above... the words of "Me and Bobby McGee" keep running through my mind... :-| I thought I'd share this particular madness with you good folks, here are the words, see how long it takes you to shake 'em:

ME AND BOBBY MCGEE

Busted flat in Baton Rouge
Headin' for the train
Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down
Just before it rained
Took us all away to New Orleans
I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana
And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues
With those windshield wipers slappin' time
And Bobby clappin' hands we finally
Sung up every song that driver knew

Freedom's just another word
For nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin
But it's free
Feelin' good was easy Lord
When Bobby sang the blues
Feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

From the coalmines of Kentucky
To the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Standin' right beside me Lord
Through every thing I done
Every night she kept me from the cold
Then somewhere near Salinas Lord
I let her slip away
Searchin' for the home
I hope she'll find
And I'd give all my tomorrows
For a single yesterday
Holdin' Bobby's body close to mine

Freedom's just another word
For nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin
But it's free
Feelin' good was easy Lord
When Bobby sang the blues
Feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

I don't recall the last verse as being that:
"Freedom's just another word
For nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin
But it's free
Feelin' good was easy Lord
When Bobby sang the blues
Feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

Keeper of: The Raven(ous)One - Raven Black (the fastest color, due to special "speed flakes") 225qc
No mods, yet... Forge DV very soon (thanks to BC), rubber mats, a large plush moose head, and a "tickle trunk" (don't ask, don't tell)...
;o)

Actually her death was quite a loss. We've lost so many wonderful musicians over the years (The Big Bopper notwithstanding)

She hits the bell on the first try. (His version was such a downer)

Default I heard it once, was depressed for the next three years... :-(

I knew it wasn't her song, just meant I liked her version of it... :-)

Default I saw one of her final concerts at the old fairgrounds in Nashville...

She was staggering, dead drunk and could barely stand - voice was shot and she looked a mess.

Trust me on this...she was not cool, healthy or life loving. Knew the broad would be dead soon. As it turns out she took a hike two weeks later.
