Ouch. My transmission died today :(
I was out running errands this morning, and, as I accelerated away from a light, I tried to shift into second and nothing ... just the engine reving. Third was the same ... followed by the pungent smell of buring clutch. I forced it back into first and was able to limp along at 15 mph until I could pull off into a gas station.
I got to spend the rest of the waiting ... for a tow ... for a friend to pick me up from the dealer ... yuck. This was not a good day. So is this the failure mode of the "second gear syncro" problem or is this the clutch failing? or something else? And just to spite me, this is a beautiful top down weekend in Chicago. Sigh. At least I got to see two Maro blue TT's at the dealer both with a gray interior. I like it. There was also a black S4 Avant with a 6 speed that kept speaking to me as I waited ... Now I wait for the fix.

Good luck w/ the fix....btw, did you have the dealer do work on the transmission before?
Or is this an evolution of the "grinding" problem you were having at the beginning of the summer?
