Is out of state purchased TTs frowned upon?
I live in Indiana and didn't want to wait for an special ordered 180hp TTQ. I found the exact car I wanted on a dealership floor in Illinois. Told the salesman I was interested and when the topic came up on my current address, he said if I lived out of state and purchased the TT they had, they would get "ding-ed" by Audi because they are only allotted a certain # and the next allotment there # would be reduced by 1. I never heared such a thing but couldn't imagine he was making it up. Does anyone know the real story?

I live in Indiana and bought mine in Dayton, OH (more)
You were given a pure fabrication in that answer. It just causes some extra paperwork when they sell out of state. Also, since Audi pays the dealer when they perform warranty (and regularly scheduled) maintenance, they stand to lose some money because you obviously won't use their service department.

I bought my TT in CT and I have it regged in NY. The dealer is saying that most likely because he is losing his "free" advertising from your license plate frame now residing in a different state!
Audi should not care where the car is sol, so long as the dealer is selling the car.
