Overall impressions of TT
After driving the TT (180Coupe) the last couple of weeks, I have some things to say about it:
1. TT drives smooth, almost as good as my friends 2000 BMW 323.
2. It's fast, but not fast enough. I will need to trade it in for a 225Q. I really wanted a real-wheel drive race-car, like a 'vette. TT doesn't satisfy here.
3. Base stereo is god-awful. My '95 Camaro's Bose was perfect. (I'm very picky in sound-systems, 20-5 hearing..)
4. Upward and Rear blind-spot visibility pretty poor
5. Design is gorgeous. Reminds me of Ford GT90 concept car, especially interior (minus blue).
6. Solid Body. This is what I really wanted after putting 115k Miles on my camaro in the last 5 years.
7. Steering & Clutch perfect, but I have steering wheel shake at highway speeds (misalignment? imbalanced? must service). Shifter is about a 8-9 out of 10.
8. More noise than i expected at highway speeds. I was expecting BMW 3 series quietness.
9. I definitely don't like a FWD car, I prefer RWD. FWD gives less feedback and feels less agile. I can never tell when I'm at the limit on my TT. Note that I don't have perf. package.
The TT is a very well balanced car, and is just right 90% of the time, but for me, i'm left unsatisfied because of my desire for a rear-wheel drive race-car. I dunno, I will most probably upgrade to 225Q, that should be just enough for me, but I'm worried about reports of turbo lag. Also, what about any newer/lighter/souped up versions? 300+ hp models? Maybe I can beef up the wheels to 18", reduce the height, to give it what I need.
