Default Passport 8500 Hardwire Tips?

Anyone got tips/hints/FAQ for hardwire install
on a TTR? The default connector is getting real annoying, not to mention the fact that accessing the garage opener in the flight box is a real pain with the ashtry down.

Default Wire it to the auxiliary wiring chassis under the dash.

Remove the under-dash valence by removing two torx screws at the bottom of the valence and three screws under the fuse panel. You'll have to unplug all of the wiring connectors from the valence including the headlight switch, & dimmer plus the OBD connector. When you look under the dash with the valence out, you'll see a row of wiring screws. Only one of those is cold when the car is turned off and it's marked differently from the rest. Get a VOM and find the cold one when the car is switched off. This is where you wire your hot (red) connection. To the right of the aux wiring chassis, you'll see a single nut painted yellow with several brown wires coming from it. This is the ground. Wire your ground (black) wire into this. Route the wires & button it up and you're good to go.
