Performance and ambient Temperatures
I have a 180FWD (chipped)-I can't believe the difference in performance when the temperature is in the 70 and 80's vs. 40's and 50's.
I know that denser air at these lower temps gives more performance, but it seems there is a dramatic difference. Anybody else notice this; the chip doesn't enter into it, as it was the same before chipping.
One day it's in the 80-90's and car is slow, the next day 40-50's and it goes like a rocket. I live in New England, thus the crazy temp swings. Has anybody else noticed this performance change. I have never had a car that shows such an enormous change in performance with varying temps.

Driving this morning it was 50 deg...225 was running strong and..
4 days ago it was 85-90 with 100% humidity...very noticeable power difference. What about converting aliens into push button activated turbo intercooler misters? Oh...just a thought
BTW snacked on a BMW 328 sport and car was running so well was looking for a S2000 entree.<p><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/annapolissig.jpg" BORDER=0>

Re: Performance and ambient Temperatures
MTM rocket ship this morning temp around 60 had to hang on to the wheel, it feels about 75 more HP, lets see what country do I need to live in 70 degrees all year long?

Fun night last night. 180ttQC Chipped, borla,etc,......read on..
Driving home from work last night in Framingham, mass. 11pm Temp outside on 495N was 52f.
Car flew like a rocket. Blew the doors off a new celica and a boxster. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get that performance all the time.

Intercooler likes colder air as well as intake. Double bonus...
for lower ambient temps. Remember that turbocharger heats up the intake air, so cooler temp into turbo equals cooler temp out, PLUS, air going thru intercooler is cooled more due to colder outside air passing over it.
Perhaps cooler air entering engine also allows more spark advance from computer.
All this would seem to be additive!
That's the good news; bad news is of course the opposite is also true. Double negative for hot days!
Enjoy.

Is there a considerable difference in power when driving in 70 degree weather compared to 90 degree?
