Default please help (urgent)

Last night, one of my neighbors knocked on my door and told me my car's alarm had been going off. I went out to the other side of my building and it was going off right then. I turned it off, then went into my car and disabled the internal motion thinggy in case it was picking up something. Then, while I was talking to the guy, my alarm went off again.

My alarm is just going off for no reason. I had to disconnect my battery to stop it so I wouldn't drain it overnight + **** off all my neighbors. I can't get to a dealership right now to have it fixed because I'm in my final quarter here at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) before I graduate -- I'm up to my eyeballs in work, and the closest dealership is like 120+ miles from here, and the closest dealership I've had any dealings with is in atlanta (about 4 hours away). Does anyone have any suggestions, or do I have to bite the bullet and drive to Atlanta so they can diagnose and whatever.

Also, does anyone know if they can't fix it right away, is this something that they would have to give me a rental car?

Default Maybe there's a fuse you can remove. There's a ...

black panel on the side of the dash when you open the driver's side door. Remove the panel & there's a list of which fuse is for what on the back of it.I'm not sure but maybe there's one for the alarm. Good luck.

Default More...

If that doesn't work you could try removing the fuse for the horn.At least the neighbors won't get pissed. You might get lucky & not have a dead battery depending on how much it's happening. These are the only things I can think of. Maybe Jeff Bipes or one of the other electrical whiz kids will sound off.

Default With all the electrical possibilities>>>

and the issue the TT has with its sensitivity to electrical anomally's.....i would think that its possible your battery is getting old/low/bad. If the voltage drops to a level that's too low...it may be triggering the alarm. If you have a volt meter...test the battery, anything less than 12.4 volts...change it, you are in a hi-risk area anyway... IMO, it could be that simple.

Default LOL! job offers on AW ...

I suspect it's not a *first*, but it is great to see how the forums connect people, I'm RISD/BArch, tho not looking for a job.

Is your parking area safe? Could you empty your car of your posessions and leave it unlocked until you can get to the dealer? Would the car be any less secure than if the system was disconnected? Disconnecting battery causes resets and recodes, and you may end up dealing with more stuff than just the alarm -- just sounds like you're dealing with a lot already.

Anyway, good luck finishing up, and congrats on graduating!

Default My car's history

The following issues have been addressed since purchasing the
"Audi Certified" car, which was advertised as having under-
gone a rigorous 300-point inspection:

1. The front swaybar was broken and had to be replaced.

2. The transmission had to be replaced.

3. There was a severe vibration at 3500rpms in all gears that was caused by a
mis-configured Air Conditioner.

4. The headlight auto-level sensor had to be replaced when the car's
headlights pointed down at the pavement so sharpley that the road wasn't
illuminated 15 feet in front of the vehicle.

5. The instrument cluster was faulty and had to be replaced. It's symptoms
included random loss of average trip data as well as reporting faulty
errors such as a critical engine coolant warning during the recent ice
storm that blanketed the south during Christmas.

6. Another transmission failure -- the car had to be pushed out of a toll
booth on New Years Day because the gear shifter lost all connection with
the gearbox. It could be rolled in a circle like a joystick without even
engaging the clutch.

7. The hazard light switch broke and fell into the center console resulting
in the inability to disable the hazard lights. It had to be replaced.

8. The vehicle is documented to burn a quart of factory recommended oil every
thousand miles. Audi claims this to be normal and refuses to address the
issue. Audi states the car only needs an oil change every 10,000 miles
during factory-scheduled checkups if using proper oil, so they give
contradictory information about my vehicle.

9. Cosmetic problems such as paint peeling off the radio (radio replaced) and
the AC Temperature control **** being split in half (part on order as of
the time of writing).

10. The official packet of certification papers and checklists included with
the car to certify it is an Audi Certified Used Vehicle are blank.
Nothing has been signed as certified, nor have any of the checks for the
300 point inspection been marked.

11. The front end of the car was not installed properly when the vehicle was
picked up. After it's 300 point "Audi Certified" inspection, I brought
the car home and noticed that the headlights and bumper didn't line up with
the car. Thoroughbred Motorcars inspected it at my request and discovered
the front end of the car had been improperly installed. Please note this
means that the front end of the car also had to have been removed at some
point by the previous owners, likely for repair work.

12. The red coolant warning light is regularly coming on when the car is turned
on.

13. The heated seat buttons broke and are depressed inside the dash.

14. The windows would not roll up properly.

--------
Things the dealer hid from me before my purchase which would have obviously kept me from buying the car:

"CUSTOMER STATES THAT VEHICLE IS RUNNING HOT AND SMOKE FOR(sic) UNDER HOOD
FOUND BATTERY DAMAGED COOLANT FAN CONTROL MODULE
REPLACED FAN CONTROL MODULE AND TESTED"

...

"BATTERY FAILED LOAD TEST
REPLACED BATTERY AND RESET CONTROLS"

Basically, the dealer that sold me the car that I was getting to avoid possible reliability problems with my then-wrecked TT -- and they KNEW that is why I was getting rid of my tt, gave me a new car that fried a battery and the cooling system.

Oh, did I mention that I'm having cooling problems and I get a red coolant warning whenever I start the car when it's under about 38-40 degrees outside in the morning?

**NEVER** buy anything or get service done at Tom Wood Audi in Indianapolis. As far as I'm concerned, they are complete crooks, and incompetant to boot -- after all they certified my car with a broken sway bar, faulty transmission, and bad AC setup causing severe vibration.

Default Re: you could also disconnect the horn itself

It was going off constantly. The blinkers and everything would all work together to drain my battery. I'd have to pull hazard fuse, horn fuse, and who knows what else. My car is just FUBAR
