Poltergeist in the climate control ??
Hi folks,
Now that winter is upon us, my
alleged poltergeist in the climate
control is reappearing.
Envision this, NJ morning 42F indicated
temp on dash. Climate control set to
75F, pumps hot air for about 10-15 mins,
then freezing cold on auto . So methinks it's
maybe sunlight or it got too hot, so I turn
off auto thinking air would come
in at 75F, still freezing air.
I wait for another 20-25 mins, no change
and I know the inside is now nowhere near 75F.
It's cold dammit !!!
So, I try it at night, thinking the
sunlight factor is gone. This time, 45F outside,
auto set to 75F. Exact same symptoms.
So, the questions are:
1. Has the poltergeist moved from the windows
to the climate controls?
2. Has anyone else experienced this?
3. Is there something wrong with the climate control?
4. Am I imagining things?
5. All of the above.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,

My guess would be...
Gremlins have a thick coat of fur. Perhaps this is why they would prefer the colder air temps inside the car...or maybe they like to see icesicles hanging from your face?
But seriously, IANAAT (I Am Not An Audi Tech) but maybe the "in-cabin" temp sensor went bad. Could also be the valve that controls whether or not the heater core is getting coolant. Or maybe the brains controlling the whole thing are shot. I don't know if the brain for the climate control is in the main engine module but that could be the culprit.
Hope you get it straightened out. And if you ever find the little gremlin bastages, beat the living $hit out of them.
