Is this possible?
Last night I was cruising around on long Island. I came across a guy in a 225 coupe. We pulled up to the light and gave each other a look and a rev. Light turns green and we go at it. I pull away from him from start to 65. By 65 I had him by about 1.5 car lengths. At that point I slow down. The guy pulls up to me, evens his speed, (35 mph) and then downshifts and takes off. It seemed he wanted to avoid the embarrassment of pulling up to the next light together.
He was definitely going for it. I could hear his engine pulling (my top was down).
So my question is this: My car is a 180 FWD roadster with an APR 93 octane chip, K&N filter, and Forge diverter valve. I had about 1/4 tank and probably a little left over "mojo in a bottle" from the last tank of gas.
Is it possible that a stock 225 could not catch me? He seemed to get a good start. He had it pretty well revved up at launch.
What do you think, could I have legitimately beat him?
If so....very cool baby....very cool....yeah!

It should be close, but the results more likely come down to driver skills...
Even though you lack the additional weight of the Quattro system, you do bear the burden of the roadster's additional weight. A 180 Roadster still weighs in at a hefty 3131 lbs, whereas the 225 Coupe is only slightly portlier at 3274. (slight weight ad: you)
Even with the 93 octane chip, you're only putting out ~210hp (many say that the K&N is no less restrictive than the oem Audi part, so don't expect a hp gain from it. As a friend of mine found out, the K&N actually turned out to be slightly more restrictive than the oem BMW part in a Z3). The stock 225 is, of course, making 225 hp. (slight hp ad: him)
Do the math. You'll find that hp/lb you're a close match up: (~1/2 lb weight advantage per 1 hp: him)
At that point everything comes down to driver skills and other little things like: Did either of you have your A/C on? How about ESP? Ultimately, who cares? You won! lol
