Default Problem with ECS timing belt kit

The second instance if this in a few days; see link to other post. Bottom line is that the tensioner supplied with their kit prevents the motor mount from being installed. We had to call Audi and get a correct tensioner to finish the job which really was a pain since the job was near done and we had to redo most of the work. This matter is not clear cut either because the part that came off the car is #06B 109 479 and the part ECS sent was #06B 109 477. However in talking to Audi they say #06B 109 477 replaces #...479 yet the box with the part that we bought to replace the ECS part was labeled #…477 but contained #...479. Trust me #...477 will NOT work on a 180 or on a number of 225s (perhaps none). You had better get answers before buying the ECS kit; we intend to and will post more later. At this point it is hard to say what is going on who is at fault. Default Jim, we installed 2 of the ECS ultimate kits in January...>>

my 2000 180 and a friends 2001 225 and the only problem with the tensioner was we had to remove the wheel to get the belt over the water pump.

Looks like Audi changed the part an failed to tell anyone.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

Default Hmmm...

06B 109 477 is what I've used in my 225 (AMU).

Breda shows both 477 and 479 crossing to their CR 3178.<ul><li><a href="http://www.lorett.it/eng/prodotti/prodotto2.php?cod_prodotto=1880&amp;applicazione=" >Breda CR 3178</a></li></ul>

I've done four ESC kits before with no problem; this is a new twist.

Default What was the packaging for the ECS provided part?

<center><img src="http://www.autoparts-bearing.com.tw/uploaddir/product/QB-45135.JPG"></center><p>I suspect they're getting an aftermarket one from somewhere. Were there any names on the package?

This one is from Taiwan. Note the missing Audi ring!<ul><li><a href="http://www.autoparts-bearing.com.tw/cgi-bin/productfn/pdt_detail_lst.pl?ProdID=777">Queen Jen!</a></li></ul>
