Default Problems with the engine

Has anyone here encountered problems with the engine, because my dads old porsche mechanic says they had some issues in the early years and cost a lot to fix...have any of you encountered this problem???

Default No problems with the engine other than water pump, timing belt, various tensioners, hoses, DV, MAFs

etc., etc., etc.

Now, what was your question?

Default German & complicated. Lots of stuff goes wrong that you'd never expect>>

Like O2 sensors that last 1/2 as long as on another car. 60K mile timing belt replacement or failure, etc.
The purchase price is only part of the deal when you buy this car

Default Re: Problems with the engine

Well, I'm now on the second turbo, third timing belt, second cylinder head, at 170,000km (how much is that in miles?). Given that the engine with it's ~270HP has a higher HP/litre ratio than a Porsche Turbo I still think it's doing fine, though

Cheers, Kai
