Problems shifiting into 5th

Lately I've been having problems shifting into 5th gear. Its a pretty sporadic problem. I remember seeing something about this on the msg board and the solution was to shift into 2nd, and press to the right. This works, but does anyone know if this problem is indicitive of a more serious, long-term problem?
