Q re 6th gear
I know 6th is just a cruising gear, but is it normal to put my foot to the floor and have NOTHING happen? No turbo spool up, no increase in engine revs, nothing. Even worse than nothing, the car hesitated, actually choked, and continued to coast along at whatever speed i had been doing, i think it was around 70 mph. When I downshifted to 5th, which is what I usually do when i need to move, everything reacted "normally." I don't often get the chance to use 6th for any length of time, so again i have to wonder if this is "normal" or not.

The ecu "maps" your driving habits...(more)
If you habitually don't use 6th much, it will tend to react poorly to acceleration demands until you've done this a few times.
FWIW I regularly cruise in 6th at 40mph: I wouldn't accelerate rapidly from 6th at this speed (I'd downshift to 4th or 3rd) but, if I put my foot in it, it'll pull very nicely up to 65 70...
So, I think that your OK, and your ecu doesn't like it when you try one time to accelerate from low revs in 6th.

5th and 6th are top end gears...
both have enormous acceleration at 70+ mph.
above that 80-120mph is just a tick of the timer.
From my understanding 6th gear is not an OD gear.
To reach top speed of 160+ MPH you need to shift to 6th.
