So the service indicator was reset by the dealer about 1700 miles ago... and when the engine light came on today, I figured the best thing to do would be to check the oil (after gassing it up). Anyway... I checked the oil level and it appeared to be fine, but the oil seemed to be more of a brown color on the piece of paper towel than tan... Usually, I'd expect it to be a coffee color, but this was definitely brown. Since the service was done and I trust that the dealership changed the oil, as they seem to be pretty responsible and trustworthy, I'm wondering if the oil should be that color already? Maybe that was the oil that went in?

Any ideas? TIA

Any ideas? Yes the detergents in the oil are doing their job. Don't sweat it, even if it turns black; that what it's supposed to do.
