Question for the chip experts re upcoming 20k service
Not certain what my dealer's attitude may be towards chipping altho I suspect they pretty much follow the "if it ain't Audi, it ain't good" rule. I do not have a spare ECU, nor am I trying to hide the fact that I have the Abt chip installed. Do I need to tell them about it so as to not have something get messed up, or do I just not mention it?

Sorry to drift off subject,,, but how do you like the ABT chip? I have
been doing my chip homework, and not sure which to go with just yet. I know ABT chips/tunes in Germany and basis this you'd think that AoA would be more likely to accept their programing. Who knows. Heard that the HP numbers may even be a little higher than "advertised". Your impression...?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If your service is like mine, first thing they did was to connect the VAG tool...
Make sure any codes are wiped out, I did.
I don't know if when the run a std. sweep for bad codes, if they can tell if the ECU is diff., mod'd or not.
It does print out a *dealer code*, which I saw was different on the different sections of the print-out.
The dealer code was one set of numbers for the engine, and another for the locks/radio, etc.
I have a spear eCU, so I don't know if this was the reason for this or not.
It didn't seem to bother the tech. any.

I certainly like the effect of the chip, but since it is the only chip I have used in my TT
I have no real seat-of-the-pants way to compare it to the others. There have been some good technical comparisons posted here recently. Actually I selected it for two reasons: (1) experience with Stratmosphere has been very good and I am a long way from most everything so their support is important to me. (2) it seemed to be a little less aggressive than some of the others... this car is a keeper for me, I suspect that I may well replace it as my daily driver at some point, but I doubt seriously if I will ever sell it. That said, while I wanted the additional performance, and I certainly got it, I also did not want to overly stress things. One last thought, I think that the chip, whatever flavor, and the suspension mods, go hand in hand, one without the other is only half the package.

Thanks for the comments. I've checked into almost all the chips and
heard many different things. I have also had excellent service from Stratmosphere, great people.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Our A4 has been "altered" since it's 15k - and now has 40k with all services done by the dealer
and not a word about it. I wouldn't sweat it - and if they ask - then discuss it with them.
