Default Question for Direct TV experts...

How can I make the picture in picture feature of my TV work with a DTV Rx?

Default You can't see two DTV pictures unless you use two DTV tuners.

You can always see your cable, or antenna, VCR, etc picture in the second PIP panel, but you can't see another DTV picture.

Default I believe with a DirecTivo box you can do this . . .

I think if you are using Tivo as one of the signals (recording and playing) and also watching a DirecTV signal you might be able to do this. I am not 100% certain as I don't have it yet and don't have PIP(never saw the benefit).

Default another direct TV Q

do I need a special box to convert the signals to 5.1 or should I be able to do this through my receiver?

Default Make sure you have a reciever that processes the DD signal...

and has an optical jack. The only beef with the optical pickup is that sometimes the audio dropout from changing channels can last a few seconds or more - this may be a reciever issue (auto detect optical vs coaxial from LD player)...

Default nope, because DirectTivo only has one video out

you can toggle between the two tuners (and the playback stream), but you would need two video sources for PIP.

Default read the link below . . .

people use the Tivo as two sources, but go with full screen. They have the same feelings I have about PIP. What's the point, the image is too small and no audio.
