Question re spacers???
As the spacers effectively increase the length of the axel/driveshaft, do they not also therefore increase the stress/strain on those members due to increase in bending moments?

We put Oettinger spacers (8mm for each side) on the vehicle when we upgraded the suspension and tire/wheel combination. As you can see (attached picture) a conservative widening of the track can make a quite a difference. The increased strain is negligible.
