Question for those who've lived/visited Europe...
As previously mentioned, I'll be heading for Paris for a week towards the end of the month. This will be my first visit to Europe.
I hear that Paris has tons of pickpockets and that I should not carry a regular wallet, but rather, a travel wallet that is hidden under the clothing. Is this true? Is it really that bad, or should I be okay carrying my wallet in my front pocket, as I normally do?
Also, a couple of people have told me not to carry a camera, as it identifies one as an obvious tourist/target. I have a small camera that would probably fit in a pocket, but then we circle back to the pickpocket issue.
Thoughts?

Lived in and visited many European cities...
They are less dangerous than most US cities simply because most criminals do not carry guns. The chances of having your wallet stolen are roughly equal I would say, only you would be more likely to survive the experience in Europe :-)
I never had a wallet stolen in my 12 years of travel and living there...

Brad, never any issue in my many trips to Europe. Just be as safe as you would in any big city.
Have a great time, take lots of pix and be careful they don't talk you into surrendering...LOL
