Default Questions for those who have KMAC.

Did you do the install yourself? If so, how long did it take and how hard? Also, can you adjust the camber yourself or do you have to get a professional alignment done. Forgive these n00b questions, just want to install myself but just want to see what Im gonna be involved in. Thank you! -Krit

Default Not that hard..>>

to do yourself. You'll need a camber gauge to set them though..

Default a few more..

i still dont get how camber is adjusted...when you torque it? maybe cause im not actually underneatht he car yet. also, where to get a camber gauge?

Default The bolt goes into an eccentric barrel...>>

That pulls the arm in and out as you rotate it. You then lock it down when adjusted correctly.

The camber gauge can be something as simple as a $40 bubble gauge...

Default What about toe?

I'm about to do a Full Kmacs. I was thinking about doing the install myself then driving to Charlotte from Asheville to get a professional alignment done. That would cost about 150 plus the driving. So maybe I should just invest in a camber adj. tool? But then again what about toe? And what about front adj. if that needed to be adjusted?

Default You can get Toe plates from the same source...>

That will allow you to do toe adjustments in your garage. It takes some time and understanding of geometry, but is baically common sense.. for less than the cost of one alignment, you can equip yourself to do them yourself forever....

Default hmm, ok so..

checked it out, looks like you have the Longacre toe plates that cost 50+ bucks. Can you describe how you measure the toe and how it is adjusted? Do you need any specific tool to adj. the toe or is it adj. via the KMACs?

Also on the Smart Camber, do you need the 199 one that comes with a module or can you get the 149 one 'frame only'?

Also what about the front?

Default Had alignment shop install upper Kmacs today. 2 hrs labor - $170, plus

$100 for a 4 wheel alignment. They burned out old rubber bushings. Lower Kmacs were installed by GRD along with Bilstein PSS9's 3 weeks ago. Think they charged 1 hour labor for 1/2 Kmac install. The plastic arm on the headlight leveler sensor got broken. Be careful to disconnect it before removing left lower arm.

I drove about 400 miles to let new springs settle in before getting alignment done. Per Schwing and others here, had rear camber set to -1.6 degrees. Took a street corner pretty hard and felt rear come around much quicker than ever before. Whoo hooo!

Default hardest part will be getting the stock bushings off the arms

Make sure you get the bushing removal tool. I got the KMAC copies from ECS which didn't come with one. It took a friend and I a couple hours to get the bushings from the 4 arms off. We used a pitman puller (pic below) and a hacksaw to take the lip off the bushings on one side. Getting the arms back in was also a little tricky.
