Default Redline "faults"

Brought my 2001 TT (purchased used) into the dealer today and they told me that there are a bunch of redline faults in the computer (or something like that). I have the feeling that they are trying to avoid covering things under warranty, they're generally not being very helpful. Can anyone tell me more about this fault and if it's meaningful?

Thanks,

-elan

Default maybe it was previously

chipped and it was over revved. If its major work that you need done, purchase a ross tech vag com and erase all the codes and go to a different dealer.

Default

I ordered a vag-com unit, but is it possible this caused serious damage to the car?

Default maybe maybe

not..it depends..if it just an over rev..you should be ok..then again over revving a car isnt that hot for it..Is it a factory warranty? if its an aftermarket warranty not audi and something major is wrong, then you might get turned down if they become aware of this issue and there is major work needed..they will claim that the car was falsely represented to them at the time they allowed warranty..so you might want to do alittle work yourself first..

Default thankfully it's factory warranty. i'll wait and see what the dealer says...

...and i'll be prepared to erase the fault and bring it to another dealer. thanks very much for the info!

Default yeah what you should look

for is a low voltage fault as well, this would indicate that the ecu has been changed ect. Keep in mind one thing, when you erase the faults the car is not quite ready for inspection..drive it for a 2 days just normal and all..gives a chance to erase any non readiness codes it generates during code erasure..do all the above..and they wont have a clue....
