Default remote alarm "muted honk" vs. "beep"

the one thing i don't like about my car is the sound of arming the alarm, that muted weak horn sound. is it possible or has anyone tried to retrofit the sound to the new "beep" or "chirp" that the newer audis make? my mom's A4 has that high-pitched beep and my car sounds like it's farting :-(

Default You can remove the horn honk when arming with the VAG-COM -

don't know if you can change the tone other than replacing the horn itself (which is located near the base of the windshield under the plenum, see image below). I suppose you could change out that horn for a new tone.

To remove the honk altogether, here is the VAG-COM procedure:

====================

35-Central Locks: Recode locking options

[Select]
[35 - Cent. Locks]
[Recode - 07]
Enter the coding below
[Do It!]

Add the following options to your coding number:

+64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote.
-04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk
-1024 Remove horn honk when arming
+32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 15 mph and unlock when key is removed)

====================

Default Personally, I like the muted sound, I hate all the honking,chirping cars out there........

I programmed mine completely silent on my Subaru, no sound just flashing lights, much better.

Default That's weird...

The horn that sounds when I set the alarm is in the trunk. I can get to it if I open up the hatch and access it through the right side flap in the trunk. I have an 04 3.2 so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Default I'm pretty sure that's possible...

Not sure on where to begin because I suck at these things. But I like the muted horn sound...I have never heard another car's alarm make a sound like that ever. Sort of "fart-ish" but still different enough for me to prefer it over others. The only other car I like the sound of when the alarm is set is the Saab's that make a chirping/singing bird sound. That's probably just me though.

Default Ahh, I see what you are getting at now. I guess we are on the same page then.

If that's the case, I'd rather have that chirp instead. If you figure something out let us know. I wouldn't know where to begin...I suck at these things so I can't help you out.

Default lol well if you access that thing in your trunk again, try to find a part #

then we can cross reference them and find out if it's doable.
