Default Remote Problem

Please help! I just purchased an '01 TT that only came with one remote/key and the remote doesn't work. I replaced the batteries but it didn't help. If I have to program it, can I do it myself or do I have to take it to a dealer? Any help is appreciated.

Default Try this.......

If batteries are good:
press unlock on the key fab once
then place the key in the door and turn to lock or unlock
lights should flash and it should be reset
I have to do this each time I replace the battery

Thanks, I will try when I can get away from desk. This has to be done whenever you change batteries? I just found another thread that said I have to have another key in the ignition to program a remote. What is the difference/why would I ever have to that?

Default I have always had to do this when changing batteries......

The key in the ignition is for doing a full key fab reprogram, something more than what you may need to do. If my directions don't cure your problem, you may need to do the full reprogram.
