Removing spoiler on a new TT?
I'm thinking about trading in my 180C with a 225C, but new TT comes with the spoiler from the factory. Is it possible to order one without the spoiler or can the spoiler be removed without leaving any damage?.
Thanks

No and sorta......from someone who's been there.....>>
Removing the stock spoiler is a bitch. 4 bolts and 2 locating pins will leave 6 holes in the deck. After bolt removal, the spoiler is glued down with some stuff I've never seen. It requires careful cutting with a razor knife to break the bond. After you remove it, there is glue and two black primer strips across the deck. These can be compounded off then polished out. The LLtek spoiler on my car comes with 6 painted buttons to cover the holes and the spoiler hides them effectively. If you want to go with the unspoiled look, you'll have to have the holes filled and the deck re-sprayed.....

I've been looking at options for this too...
Depending on your budget, you might think about buying a new lid/hatch. They can be ordered without spoiler holes. Then paint and install. I think the cost on my TTR would be $700 - 850. On a coupe it would be more, but I saw a price on the hatch somewhere and was quite surprised at how low it was. You can also look into the SoCal deal with The Collection down in Florida, they were happy to quote me the price at a 20% discount.
It's a big number, but I suspect it isn't so much more than you'd pay to ADD an aftermarket spoiler (What's the installed cost for the LLtek?), and the question is just how much will you pay to have the look you want. The other plus of this plan is that you can keep you existing hatch/lid in case you need it later, or can find a buyer for it.
Someone also suggested, though I haven't tired it, that you could talk to the shops around your area and see if you can sell or swap your hatch to them. If they happen to have a collision repair that calls for it, you might have some luck with the.
Just some ideas I've thought of. I haven't decided what I want to do either...

Here is a link to the TSB on removing the spoiler. In two years, I think
we have had posts from two or three people that have done this and they reported it was not nearly as difficult as described in the TSB. Nevertheless, it doesn't look easy.

Spoiler Removal TSB
