Default Requisite Newbie Questions

My car:

Doesn't stop as well as I think it should.
Shakes at speed with the windows down.
Has more play in the wheel at speed than I think the speed sensitive steering should allow.

Are these common, or am I unaccustomed to the refined ways of German engineering?

Appreciate it,

The brakes are good, but not great, especially in the wet. You may have burnished pads or a glaze on the rotors. Try a few high speed stops to burn them in better. Many of us have changed to low dust pads like Mintex Red Box. Cheap and your cleaning chores will be reduced significantly.

They do that. One of the reasons I put in a sunroof...The buffeting harmonics are annoying and this eliminated it. Click my link for an album of pictures.

You shouldn't have play. Check your tire pressures and roll em up 2 psi or so. Your shocks are probably marginal at 27K too...
They're not very good...

Default Thanks, I'll check my PSI...

So you're the owner of that TT. That's the only TT I could find on the whole WWW with a roof in it! I had thought about putting a VW Bug roof in mine, but no one would do it--said the arch was all wrong. I even considered chopping a whole Bug roof and putting it on, but it would mess up the original TT lines, I think...

It's an SFC Newport 18x28 double curved (same as used on the N. beetles). Any good Trim or sunroof outfit should be able to do this. Probably a few dozen done on TT's over the years. Mine was not the first. Look for a good installer. Nothing in the roof to worry about as far as cutting...
