Rotor Styles... D/S/D+S
I've heard a rumor (or maybe not a rumor) that slotted rotors dissipate heat more efficiently than the drilled ones. So I don't understand why real high-end cars would have drilled rotors and not slotted. On that note, wouldn't drilled + slotted be better than either drilled or slotted seperately?

my understanding:
Drilled on really high end cars/race cars is to save that last couple ounces of unsprung weight. Drilled can weaken the metal they also say. Slotted dissipates the hot gasses and cool better. they also wear through pads a little more quickly. Drilled and slotted, as long as the rotor wasn't suspect structurally, would be fine. On our cars, I tend to think driled is just for looks.

The enemy of great brakes is heat. You want to be able to....
dissipate heat as quickly and efficiently as possible. Heat travels from hot to cold. Generally the more mass you have the more heat holding capacity it has, or ability to draw heat from the pads. Then the rotor must be of an efficient design to give up its heat to the air.
Rotors such as Stoptech are designed to remove heat from the rotors. All rotor manufacturers have their own specifics for dissipating heat.
Consequently, I am in the camp (for identical dia. and width rotor) of slotted rotors doing a better job than cross drilled. The slots let the gases out while not losing much steel to do that or loss of surface area.
