Default Running in ?

I have just collected my new 225Q and have been told to keep the revs down below 3500 for the first 1500 kilometers.

Can anybody tell me if this is necessary /advised ?

Thanks...

Default According to owners manual

keep to 3/4 max spped for forst 1000kms, then increase slowly over next 500kms.

I (mostly) kept mine below 4500-5000 rpm during the first 1000kms, and now am increasing as I am at 1300kms.

Besides, with the engine being so tight at this low mileage the top rev range peformance is not there and wont be until the engine loosens up. My last 1.8T motor in a A4 took close to 10000kms before it was really loose.
