Running cool but gauge is dead middle
30 mile run this morning with the Climatronic test 49 showed coolant temps mid 60's c. Never got above 70c. But gauge was dead center.
Back at the shop for large fan replacement and thermostat change out, another run showed temps 90-93c, perfect.
Fans operating as designed. Now the gauge is reading 3/4 way to hot or so.
Tomorrow the cluster glass gets pulled, plug the cluster in with the gauge needle removed, drive it and reattach the needle at 90c.
Cleaned the under hood, reattached the trim.
It's the simple things... now if I can get the tires changed...

Yes. All sounds familiar. Ultra clean! Kudos for that.

The only permanent solution is to have the cluster rebuilt. Glad the car is running well though - that's all that matters!

Tanin Auto Electric will replace just the stepper motor for you if the LCD is good. They will charge you less. If you want to do it yourself, you can replace the stepper motor yourself but it is a complicated job.
If your cluster is original (look at date code and for markings by a rebuilder) I believe more stepper motors will fail (fuel gauge definitely) and the LCD will deterioriate. Then get a complete rebuild.

Thanks for the tips. Just had the cluster rebuilt a month ago by OdoPro in Colorado, pixels were out and everything else checked/replaced as needed. If I continue to have issues
after resetting the temp needle I'll send it back. Lifetime warranty.
Other than an intermittent electrical drain I'm chasing the TT is square. New tires going on her soon.
Fun little ride.
