Service Report: in for 20K, out with 10K ... :-(
History:
I did my own 5K service in the back yard because I was racking up miles fast and the dealer appointment backlog was running at about a month and I didn't want to wait.
When I took it in for the 10K service, I stated it was for 10K, but noticed the form said "5K" afterwards; I assumed they just got confused because it was my first service visit.
On to today:
Made a reservation for the 20K service (car is a little over 20K now), brought it in, left it with a sheet requesting "20K service, including Haldex servicing" along with some other minor stuff.
Went to pick up car, they say they did a 10K service. Claim that Audi won't let them skip a service so won't reimburse if they do a 20K without a 10K (or 5K). And they won't do me a free 20K service for about a year because obviously you can't put 10,000 miles on in a week. But I'm welcome to pay them to do it now.
My main complaint is that they didn't call first to discuss the possible confusion; I asked for "X" and they did "Y" and just assumed it was OK. It wasn't.
Customer left with steam coming out of ears.
*NOT* End of Story.

I agree. That is friggin ridiculous. How do audi service departments
think they can keep getting away with treating customers like this? You don't get treated like this at BMW and especially not Infiniti (both from experience...although Volvo sucked too). If they want to sell a luxury brand they should service like one.
Okay I'm done.

thanks - letting steam dissipate overnight before doing anything
but I appreciate the sympathy! :-)

my other complaint is that the local West Marine store doesn't keep mushroom mooring anchors (*) in stock, so I have to order one or go elsewhere. but I guess that's not Audi's fault. (or maybe it is? :-)
(*) Note: these are not for mooring mushrooms. also, they have nothing to do with leprechauns.

If you read the USA Warranty booklet, it says:
-----------------------------------------------
Missed Maintenance Service
Audi recommends that the customer has maintenance services performed at the scheduled time or mileage. However, if a maintenance service is missed, it need not be "picked up" later. Instead, Audi dealers should perform the most appropriate service upon considering the vehicle's age and mileage driven.
-----------------------------------------------
Too bad I didn't recall seeing that when I picked up the car... :-(
But, I'll be making sure the service dept. gets a copy! :-)
