It makes sense when you think about it- the TTDA streamlines the air coming into the filter, but that air still hits the vertical back wall and causes flow disruptions. Thoughts?

It looks like a toilet flange you can get from Home Depot.

Default I think the VTDA has it on the "in" side; the TTDA on neither. For the latter >>>

the back cap would need to be redesigned and use a different K&N filter.

Not sure if it would make a big diff given the inverted cone used on the TTDAs to begin with ...

LOL ... now is this toilet flange worth incorporating into the intake design?

Default It could be done...>>

At a cost, of course, which few seem to be willing to pay these days.. In looking at their dyno plots, there seems to be little documented improvements that couldn't be accounted for in run to run variances. Plus any gains seem to be really high in the RPM range to take advantage of the flow dynamics.....Really much beyond 5500 on a TT is just making heat and not necessarily more power so gains would probably be minimal... I'm using an Apexi filter in my Jeep which has this built in, in addition to a large V-stack opening. Honestly, i couldn't tell any SOP difference between it and a conventional VTDA which I also tried. This one sounds better though!...It's interesting to play around with this stuff, but I think gains would be minimal..

Default As long as the flows in that region remain nominally laminar....

then the adapter is serving little purpose. In some monster that is operating in serious-velocities, it might make sense in keeping air flow smooth as it enters the MAF sensor throat.

Default Makes sense. On a 3.2 though, gains from 5500 up would also be nice >>>

since that motor makes power to redline ... the VTDA seems to incorporate this stack on the in side anyways. What kind of filter is pictured there- inverted cone or something different?

Default But your redline is not stratospheric like a V-Tech Honda...

Quite a few VTDA's out there on 3.2's! On the Jeep setup, there is an internal conical flow diverter, not an inverted cone like a TTDA..Just pulls form the outer sides, so the internal diverter may make some slight difference..
