Stock turbo gone bad. Looking for options and experiences.
Ok guys, it happened yesterday while driving home from work. I wasn't doing anything special. Just driving in heavy traffic and accelerating in 2nd gear and my turbo started sounding like a dremel (i like to think hamster wheel). I took it into my local trusty shop and they confirmed that my turbo has seen better days. Any suggestions?
I'm considering everything from an APR STG III+ all the way down to anything but a factory replacement.
Car has an APR 93 octane chip, Modshack VDTA intake, Forge FMIC, Milltek exhaust along with all the samco boost hoses and Forge 007 DV.
All ideas are welcome here.

Don't forget about non-APR turbo kits... they're a lot cheaper.
APR is supposed to be the best tried-and-tested company, but you should talk to Pagparts and Kinetic and Boostfactory (and others)... they'll get you a much better price.
Also, you should consider the ATP Eliminator kits if you want something simple... http://www.atpturbo.com/

APR is not "the best" as there are a couple others. However, APR >>
is one company that sells product that works! You buy from the cheaper guys and you may get into trouble.
Hardest part of producing satisfactory "kits" is good software mapping.... not hardware.
Perhaps the "cheaper" guys have come up the ranks. But best ask any and all folks with experience before you take that leap of faith!

I'm going to give a few of these guys a call and see what they say. From what I see on their sites they don't have kits.

a turbo w/o mapping is useless. Watch out for the "noo problem >>
our stuff is proven!" replies. I doubt a "tuner" will fess up to a poorly ECU map.
3 companies that make "kits" are Dahlback, Del Rio and APR....all with proven success. If there are others I am not aware of them...... so be careful and ask around!!!
