Stupid XP + AT&T Cable modem, ARG! I can't get online!
OK, after AT&T comes back up, I thought I install XP on a 'girl' friend's computer thinking it would score me brownie points. I gave her the CD and pushed install and it went though all the setups and upgrades and what nots. After the install the RCA DCM225 cable modem that AT&T provided no longer is capable with XP. Let me tell you, this didn't impress her at all considering she is using netzero to get online now. RCA's website is useless, AT&T's website is even worst. Anyone had this problem?

Are any lights on the modem?
what about lights on the NIC? What do you get when you ping the modem? Have you tried an IPCONFIG to see what you are getting? Do you have an IP address?
Lots of things it could be other than the modem, AT&T or even XP. I would first look into your configurations.
Open a command prompt - Start --> Run --> cmd <enter>
cd\
ipconfig /all
What does it say? Do you see an IP address? DHCP server? copy and paste it here if you can't read it.

It didn't even detect the modem....
Well, it does detect it but says it isn't compatible or soemthing along those lines. It was late at night last night when it was done. I'll go over to her house and check tonight.
All modem lights are on. I think I need XP drivers for the modem.
