Default Suggestion from Audi about humming noise

I spoke with Audi Client Relations today about the 2900rpm humming noise in my 225 Coupe. I noted that several other people have the problem and they said that they are unaware of it and are encouraging people to let them know about it. They ask that anyone with the problem in the US call

800-822-2834

They also suggested having the dealer get in touch with their "technical line" ...

for what it is worth

Default I've got the same noise from my 225 also.

I just called Audi client relations and the woman recorded this issue and gave me a case number.

There is a TT waiting for delivery at my dealer with the same problem but they don't know what it is yet and they don't want to give the car to the owner till its resolved.

I have an appointment in 2 weeks, hope they can find the problem.

Default Re: I called as well...

Again, the person I reached claimed it was the first she had heard of it. She took down my VIN and I was pleased to find out that I'm in their computer already (delivery on 4/15). She promised to do some research and call me back.

FYI, my 225 coupe makes the intermitent hum anywhere between 2,700 and 3,300 RPM; it appears to only happen with slight increases of throttle. It's happened since my test drive, where it only lasted about a half second per occurence. With about 1,500 miles it appears slightly more frequent now and the hum can now last up to about 5 seconds (if you carefully handle the throttle).

I've got a 2001 TTQ 225 HP as well, but only hear the noise in 5th and 6th gears. It almost sounds like when you blow across the opening of a straw, definitely wind type noise, doesn't sound too mechanical?
Leng

I registered my car as well. They said that they had no record of this problem, but my car was driven by Audi tech specialist 1 week ago. Dealer says that they are waiting for engineering to diagnose the problem. It doesn't go away by 1700 miles, and is increasingly annoying.

Default what is a tech specialist?

Is this a higher level person than the normal service guys?

I agree that it is increasingly annoying. At 1000 miles it is clearly worse than when the car was new.

Default Have you seen the FAQ on moan/groan on the A4 1.8T

What you're describing hear could be a similar acoustic resonance in the turbo system/piping as that was. However this fix may be different or unique to the TT.

Default I've got it, I will call (again)...

They tried to tell me it was road noise, bull. An earlier post said that a dealer found it to be a loose heat shield. I sure would like to correct it, it's annoying.
