Default Suspension pop/creak/rattle FIXED. Schwing, U DA MAN! >>>>>>

I've had this unbelievably annoying pop/creak/rattle coming from my TT's right rear for about a year. It was so annoying that I didn't even take the car out for "pleasure" drives anymore. I didn't want the dealer messing with it b/c they would 1) blame my suspension mods even if unrelated, 2) charge a lot of $$$, and 3) damage my car in some way (happened on all but one visit). Anyhow, enough bitching . . .

Happy to say that I fixed it this morning in about an hour. Steve suggested in the post linked below that I should check the rear shock mounts. I loosened the wheel bolts, jacked the car with my floorjack, positioned a jackstand, removed wheels, removed wheelwell cover entirely, and checked the upper mount bolt (Jeff Bipes' pic below for reference)--it was torqued solid & tight:

Then I loosened the upper bolt enough so that the washer behind the head was free. I then repositioned the jack stand on the rear arm, and lowered the car slowly so that the suspension loaded slightly and pushed the upper mount of the shock up in its mounting hole (?) (old pic below for reference):

Retorqued the bolt in its slightly upward position, buttoned the rear back up, took the car for a spin, and NO MORE F'IN NOISE.

Hopefully this will help others with their (commonly inquired about) noise problems. FYI--I removed the rear swaybar last week & lubed the bushings--it obviously wasn't the problem.

My prior post re: this problem . . .

Default I have evidence that...

Schwing is the audi equivalent of Mr. Goodwrench.... he's like Michael and Latoya Jackson... is there one? Are there many? How can one person do/know so much?

How come I'm not suprised that he was able to fix this so quickly? :-)

Default But..

I've pretty much decided that I will lose the rear seat... maybe do a Brahma MkII (which just came out) 10 (or 12 if I can fit it) with the sub amp, similar to how Jenner's was. With 1000+watts going to it RMS.. I think that it should bump nicely, and leave me with good trunk space.

Default I was just looking at Adire's site. Those 10"s seem to work

well in tiny enclosures . . . hmmmmmm . . . you might want to consider 2 of them, fiberglassing over an amp rack on the rear seat floor (Use Pc Fans for cooling) as well as the rear & sides of the enclosure. I know what I'd do! :-)
