If so, where can I find after market fuel sending units for '02 180Q? Thanks. An Audi tech suggested it...

Default Have you tried cleaning first?

Techron helps, but sometimes you have to put some mechanical action to it.

Default yup, I do use techron.

Maybe I need to use it more often... Anyways, there is a fault code (short ground) showing for one of the unit...

Default Yep, I had short to plus.

I screwed around with one of the senders and cleaned a few of the metal surface that looks like it would be involved with messing with an electrical reading. Gauge went from reading empty all the time, to sometimes reading full (even when near empty), and occasionally reading correctly. Although that just seems goofy, it was a step in the right direction, and I would hope a more thorough cleaning, and cleaning of the other sender would fix the issue completely.

I was nervous about pulling the fuel lines from the cap on the pass side, I didn't want to break them and they seemed brittle, so that side wasn't touched. The drivers side only got a partial cleaning because like a jackass, I decided to open up the tank the day after filling it. In case you weren't aware, those access ports are NOT the highest point on in the tank... it was a bit messy, and I started to feel a little goofy ; )
