Default Is there a problem running wheels w/o centercaps?

Is the exposed center hub nut (or whatever it's officially called) at risk from weather, etc?

Not a danger, just unsightly...

Default although if you wash the car or drive in rain, water will get in rust out the hub bolt area.

the centercap tends to keep most of the water and dirt out of there.

Default that's what I was wondering... >>

I've got my winter shoes mounted on 16" steelies and I've painted them silver to run w/o wheel covers, emulating a faux P-356 look. But I haven't found any inexpensive center caps that will fit. I sourced a set of Mk4 VW caps but they were for alloys and don't fit the steelies.

So I may have to run them without center caps, exposing the hub nut to water, snow and salt.

Default probably the worse time to run it if you get salt and water mixed in the hub area.

mine are pretty rusted already...and i have centercaps on...just think about how bad it would be without them.

Default yeah. I'll have to figure something out...

... or pop for winter alloys but I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. Hell, 4 alloys and the related mounting and balancing would cost almost the same as chipping!

Thx
