Are these "tabs" of any importance? What do they do? >>>

I removed my shift boot to inspect a rattle and found one of these tabs completely broken off, with the second one also broken but still hanging on (looked like old, brittle plastic)... Are they important? Should I glue them back on or just forget it? Thanks!

It does (or did) because I could see marks on the inside bootom of the boot...
So, is this a concern? It seems strange that are only these two tabs and no others.

Dunno... maybe it keeps the boot from falling and touching that tensioner thing? Though as I...
remember it there's quite a bit of room between the bottom of the boot and that spring.
I wouldn't be too worried. I'd leave them off if it were my car.
Unless someone knows they're important? But then again, if they were really important, they probably wouldn't be plastic.

Kinda what I figured as well, but you can never be too sure it seems. >>>
It's still under warranty, but don't know if I'd be opening a can of worms by suggesting I found the broken pieces by taking off the boot myself (you know those service reps)
