The K40 Undetectable radar detector should be near the top of your list. I'm sure the Valentine picks up radar/laser just as well, but it sure doesn't look as good. Just five LED's (each smaller than the diameter of a pencil eraser) spaced around the instrument cluster and hidden control **** connected to front and rear sensors (in my case in special licence plate frames). It worked great and best of all doesn't make the TT's incredible interior look like Radio Shack got to it (you also don't have to worry about it being stolen).

Sorry I don't have any pics (my computer won't recognise my camera for some reason), but just take a picture of your dashboard and put in some tiny red dots between the guages and that'll be close enough.

Sounds good. Did you do the install and is it difficult? How big are the outside sensors? Do I just go somewhere and ask for the K40 Undetectable Radar? Is there a model #?

Default I've got this in my 911, but a wire is busted. doesn't work. :P

I'm too lazy to get into the guts and find which wire it is and replace it. heh.

I must say though, it's a very cool thing to have.

Default A few more details on the K40...

There are two K40 units. Both have outside sensors (one front, one rear) that pick up radar (X, K and Ka) and laser. They claim to have the "largest and most sensitive receiver in the industry" and that the sensor positions take advantage of the "ground wave energy of police radar". It's hard for me to verify any of this, but whatever they do, it definitely works.

The "Remote" unit has a small box (from a picture inn the literature it looks to be about an inch high by 5 inches wide) that sits on top of the steering column that has the controls and warning LED's.

The "Undectectable" is actually a series of separate LED's that are drilled into the instrument cluster and fit in very unobtrusively. Its got a speaker that went beneath the ashtray and I had them put the control dial in the sliding tray below the ashtray. You really don't notice it at all except when it is going through it diagnostic tests at startup.

I don't think you can install this yourself as they have various warranties (including pledges to pay any speeding tickets) so I think you have to go to a dealer/installer in your area.

It is not cheap. I've seen a post on the forum for "$1,200 plus", but I had to pay $1,600 for mine including installation, and after seeing it in action I don't regret it for a second.

Anyway, look them up at their website or call 847-888-7200.

http://www.k40.com</a
