Default I chose Dunlop SP Sport 9000...

I added a Hunter 9700 balancing (Ride Match at Discount Tire) and they are infinitely smoother than the Michelin Pilot Sports I replaced. Discount Tire was willing to match their own internet prices.

I hear that these aren't as good for track times, but I spend most of my time on Houston roads. Not ideal conditions.

Hmmmm......other than an occasional PCA Autocross, I need something reliable for daily street use.

Default i'll be needing new summer tires too.... i'll probably go with

the Kumho 712's. From what i've heard on the forum, you can't beat the perf/price combination.

Kumho 712 @ Tirerack</

Default a friend of mine had them on his Acura.... even tracked them 3 times

and still ended up with very good treadwear. My P6000's have gotten really slick over the last 1000 miles of wear (total of 21k miles).

Default If you want max performance, get the Bridgestone SO3s. I have them & love 'em. If . . .

you drive predominantly in straight lines (e.g., 75% of your drive is to & from work on the freeway) then a high-treadwear tire (Kumho?) might be a good option.

My view is this--tires are a very important piece in the safety aspects of your car--turning, stopping, etc. Choose wisely.

Default The Kumhos are probably a good tire for the money, no doubt.

But don't expect the same performance out of them as with a true max performance tire. These aren't <$100 SO3s! They'll likely be comparable or better than OEM stock.

That said, for the price & treadwear I would consider them next time around for my TT.
