Default Tire rotation direction markers on TT stock tires?

Decided to be an optimist and remove my winter tires that came pre-installed when I picked up my TT in December. They were Pirellil 210's. Noticed an apparent directional tread but all the tires had the same tread direction.

Went to put the orignal sport Michelin's on and looked for a rotation direction indicator and found none. Again, tread pattern looks directional but all 4 tires are the same.

Any suggestions on how to confirm whether they are directional and if the dealer gave me four in the same direction, i.e., all left tires or all right?

Default Directional tires have an arrows indicating direction of rotation.

Arrows should be on both sides, so there is only one tire which works on any corner.

If tires are asymmetrical (very few are), the arrow will also have a note like "outside" molded into the sidewall.

Are stock TT sport tires non-directional, i.e., doesn't matter what side?

I don't really understand this thread.

If tire treads look uni-directional, they are supposed to be uni-directional. There should also be an arrow pointing the rotational direction.

I have the bridgestone OE which are uni-directional. You can not switch tires side to side, but since size is identical, you can change tires front to back as long as they stay on same side.

I can't understand why a uni-directional tread design wouldn't have direction indicators on it, but if they don't the upside of the "V" in the tread should point forward when bottom side is on the ground.

Hope that helps.

I'm presuming they are directional because of the v-pattern mid tread and the outer edge of the tire has slits that are at an angle. There is no clear rotation marker on the tire. On my A4 there was a clear direction indicator.

I've checked the Michelin Web site. They're Pilot SX performance tires. I called my dealer yesterday and completely stumped them. Will have to swing by service for a look I suppose. Just want to be sure they didn't mess up when they gave me the tires. I suspect the same issue with my winter Pirelli's.

Default "You can not switch tires side to side" ...without remounting...

What determines whether a symmetrical directional tire is for the right or left side of the vehicle is how it is mounted on the wheel.

In other words, if a directional tire is mounted for use on the right side of the car, the 'outside' sidewall would become the 'inside' sidewall if the tire were demounted and remounted for left side use.

I've had a case where a dealer mounted 4 directional tires for me...three lefts and one right! Ya gotta watch em!

Asymmetrical tires come in "left' and "right" hand tires. This is very rare.
