When you hit & hold 20 it sounds like the car is farting out the exhaust. You can hear it from the turbocharger to the exhaust tip.
It's bad, kind of violent.
Anywhere else in the boost range the car drives perfectly normal so I'm getting home fine today at least.
So is this misfires? I have NGK OEM temperature platinums in now that are less than 10k. The coilpacks I have are almost 2 years now so I have a feeling those are going out. I'm going to see if Audi has a set I can pickup today. I have a brand new box of Denso IK22's in my room waiting to go in too.
But since I'm not having a flashing CEL does that mean a pack could be weak but not failed yet?
I have two extra good (but older) packs at home, I'm going to VAG-COM as soon as I get there!
Also a friend of mine said it could be my turbo going out? Or boost-leak related since it only happens @ high boost. I'd like it to be coilpacks because I'm slowly gathering an arsenal of big turbo parts and I won't be ready to execute for quite AWHILE!

I haven't gotten codes when I had misfires and only the occassional flashing cel
Other things it could be...
If your boost shuts down and fluctuates badly as it peaks, ie up to 20, back to 12, creeping back up, it could be the N75.
I also had a similar type of stuttering when my fuel pump was on its way out but that isn't very common. If you pull the plugs and they all look bright white though start looking for a fueling issue.

Thanks guys, Ran some VAGCOM did logs, car's fixed THIS THING RUNS AMAZING!!!>>>
RUNS FREAKING GREAT...
Okay so it was my first coil pack. I swapped in an older pack for now and I'm going to order 034 motorsport coilpacks which are supposedly stronger than stock according to the sales person when I called today. They are $155 a set so who cares I will give it a try!
I swapped in IK22 plugs @ .028 gap, also.
I also had a BOOST LEAK from the hose that connects the PCV system to the intake manifold (under it in the center). I noticed oil splatter under there earlier>> the clamp had cracked the hose very little.
Previously I was spiking 25 or more in EVERY gear. It was annoying, I thought my car had a software issue. I have boost tested it, I have checked every line. This leak I just missed everytime I guess. Well....
MY CAR RUNS AWESOME NOW. With the boost machine @ 3 turns and 3/4th's of a turn on the regulator valve this baby spikes 22/23 and holds 21. It's beautiful. I love it.
Without the boost machine the car was hitting 21 and holding 20. That was with just the regulator adjusted, not the boost increasing valve. I'm not sure spiking is worth it to tell you the truth. I kind of like hitting 20 and holding!
I'm having trouble believing my car runs this well. I'm so very happy with it again. I just need to get these new strut mounts in and H2 sport bearings then I will be good for awhile.
Until that GT2871R goes in...
