Default Too many options now: Running Dunlop WinterSport M2s. Who runs LM 22, LM 25, WS 50 or Dunlop M3's

Way too many tire options now. My M2's are running a little low on tread and I notice the difference in tractions because of it. Wondering peopls thoughts on the above tires, who is running them, etc.

The M2's were nice, but even in the snow I was sliding around a bit. Would like more claw in my tire, even if they only last 2 seasons. I don't want a HORRIBLE ride when it is dry and cold, but I don't need a hi speed tire at a sacrifice to a really clawing snow tire. When Milwaukee gets hits twice a month with snow, it really comes down.

Help would be great in reviwing, cause all the tires seem to say the same thing above. Want a NO BS review of each above if possible.

Default LM 22s here

Pretty nice, more snow here than there, at least according to my daughter in Mequon. certainly not hiperf., but no problems in snow. Eveything is less than optimum on ice, but fairly good grip.

Default M3s here. IMO, you should look at Nokian.

I've used 'clawing' snows in the past (Gislaved) and had disappointing tread wear and horrible on-road performance. I've had good luck with high-perf all seasons with above average snow handling (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S), but this year I wanted more 'claw' and so I went with the M3s. I'm in Boston and I frequently drive in Northern New England in all conditions, and I bet that the M3 would be fine for Milwaukee - but relative to what you've used in the past, hard to say... It's my first season with the M3s, but based on a brief trial on snow/ice this week, I think they'll do the trick: more bite than the PS A/S, almost as much as the Gislaveds...

The other tire that I considered was Nokian, which offers RSI and WR depending on how much highway vs snow driving you do... I opted for the M3 as I do a lot of highway in all conditions, and speed rating and wear rating are better on the M3 - but the RSI might have a slight edge in snow grip, and WR almost certainly does.

Default ran a couple seasons with the >>>

michelin pilot alpines and i loved them, the car was a tank with those...had the same experience with the Michelin artic alpines for 3 seasons prior to that...bought the M3's for this winter as i needed to move to 17's.
I was gonna run the Nokian WR's...but at close 190$ a tire they were more than 70$ a tire more than the M3's....decision made!

From all my experience with the Blizzak line..great tire!! Thing is, they have a tendency to wear quickly...i have heard 12k miles or so on a set....

Default Nokian wr's here in central WI...

great all around winter tire. Quiet. Ice and slush very good. not bad in deep snow. Last winter pushed 14" drifts down our street and into the garage like a snow plow. Plus I think that they are rated to 60,000 miles V speed rating. They are acculy an all season tire so you can leave them on a litte longer for freek late season storms. Thinking of buying a set of the pick um up truck and leave them on all the time.

Default The last 2 days with my Nokian WRs have been incredible

As TT-Nuge stated, we've had a fair amount of snow in the twin cities area yesterday. I drove about 120 miles of combo highway and city streets yesterday, and already about 50 today. I can't imagine needing any more traction than I'm getting with the WRs.

The drivability on dry roads is acceptable, not squishy at all but certainly not the performance I'm used to with the F1s, but maybe as good as the worn out Perilli M&S I had on for the last couple of months.

I wouldn't hesitate to go WRs again.

Default I'm sold on LM22s - got three seasons out of my last set . . .

and have one season on these new ones. Running 205/55-16s on ATP Riva wheels. Absolutely terrific in the snow, one storm last winter it was only me and a 4-wheel drive jeep making it up the hill near my house. Dry ride is comfortable, and maybe 85% of summer tire grip. I'm sold. Now I see there's a run-flat version . . . as some indication of popularity, Tire Rack is sold out. Good luck finding them.

Default I had M3's or M2's on my last 911 C2? I got caught in 5" of snow one night and

It took me 2 hours to drive 24 miles to get home. I was soaked with sweat when I slid the car safely home into my garage. At the time I had a quattro as well with them on and never had any problems. The 911's weight distribution sucked, so I am not sure it was the tires fault. Since then I have switched teams to Audi totally, even though my TTqR is my perfect day only car. Think "thin and skinny tires for winter."

Default Dunlop M3s here (starting 3rd winter)... overkill for Chicago, so prob'ly fine for Milwaukee

Car drives like a mountain goat in snow; handling on dry/wet pretty good. Can't imagine they're all that different from M2s however.
